The Best School in the North State

The annual ranking of "Best High School in America" by U.S. News & World Report just released its annual list of best high schools in the country for 2017, ranking the schools on a national and a state level. Spotlighting outstanding public high schools throughout the country, the rankings are based on academic performance, graduation rates and how well the schools prepare students for college-level courses. U-Prep was ranked #263 in the nation, #41 in California and #75 among charter schools, earning a Gold Medal for the 3rd time in history.

The 2017 rankings of best high schools identify the top-performing public schools using data on about 22,000 high schools. To be considered among the best, high schools had to pass a rigorous four-step process that sought to determine whether a school was serving all of its students and not just those who are college bound. As in the past years, U-Prep was the only school that received Gold Medal in the North State, continuting to stay in the top 2% of all high schools nationwide.

On May 5, 2017, the Washington Post published their 2017 list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools. Nationally, only 12% (2,324) of private and public schools qualified for recognition; 266 (11%) were California private and public schools. U-Prep was ONE of three schools north of Sacramento that was. Overall, U-Prep is ranked 260 out of 2,324 schools nationwide; among strictly public schools in California, U-Prep ranks #22. This recognition AGAIN provides testimony to the strength of U-Prep’s comprehensive 6th-12th college prep program. Go Panthers!
